    Anyone have a barf bag?

The great Tim Kaine said during a Friday visit to the freel...errr, RAM event in Wise,

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">"We definitely need a system for universal health care in this country. We would be a stronger society if we had a health care system that truly serves all."?
    </div></div>

I think I'm gonna be sick...

You don't have to worry i don't think...they have a few major hurdles to cross...And with our nation being as broke as it is now, their is no way they can afford it...Medicare is flat broke and getting broker everyday, and that is basically standardised healthcare for seniors....The government is now offering huge by-out incentives to get companies to talk seniors into opting out of medicare onto medicare-advantage plans...Same thing that will happen if we went to standardised healthcare....Especially as broke as we are....

They need to worry about standardised gas before they worry about standardised healthcare, which they say they can't do because it would create a non-free market, so hows universal healthcare a free market???

Re: Anyone have a barf bag?

America is becoming ever so close to a socialized nation. I thought we spent years trying to stamp out communism? Now we are trying to adapt many of its practices and theories into our own society. The overall standard of health care in this country would drop immensely if Universal Health Care was established. Doctors would no longer have an incentive to perform well, many of the benefits we enjoy in regards to health care for our families would be stripped from us. To me, it's just another way to reward those who do nothing. Our country as a whole needs to take a step back and realize that this country was built by men who worked hard to achieve the goals they desired. At our current rate were going to end up like China and end up stealing all of our technology from other nations because there will be no reward for working hard and developing new technology or ideas.

Re: Anyone have a barf bag?

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat -- then you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a 'free lunch'!

A politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do yourself.

I read that article when it ran in the paper and spent the entire time trying to keep my lunch where it belonged.

I don't know which is worse. That the CEO of a giant like Wellmont thinks that the systems is ailing or that he's willing to throw the golden calf into the fire.

Re: Anyone have a barf bag?

Welmont's CEO and most of his predecessors were more concerned with getting one up on MSHA than improving healthcare in our area. MSHA doesn't do much better. A family member has worked for both in an administrative capacity, so they know the inner workings of the groups. If Welmont and MSHA would quit their spitting contest and work together with as much zeal to improve healthcare in SW Va. and NE Tenn., there would be very few problems to solve related to health.
In a recent article in the Times News that very subject was addressed. While Welmont's CEO seemed willing to work together, MSHA's response was, to paraphrase, "If its in our best interests". Heck, it's in everybody's best interests!!!
